Instructions
- Prep the chicken by slicing the breasts in half horizontally. Season with salt and pepper.
- In a shallow bowl, whisk together buttermilk and hot sauce. In another bowl, mix flour, cornstarch, cayenne, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper.
- Dredge the seasoned chicken in the flour mixture, dip it in the buttermilk mixture, then coat it again in the flour mix.
- Heat oil in a skillet to 350ºF. Fry each piece for about three minutes per side or until golden brown; ensure an internal temperature of 165ºF.
- Create the Nashville Hot Sauce by mixing hot cooking oil with brown sugar and spices; baste the fried chicken.
- Assemble each sandwich with mayonnaise on the bun's bottom half, fried chicken on top, followed by coleslaw and pickles.
