  • 1 1/2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 4 2/3 cups powdered sugar (for glaze)
  • 2 1/2 tablespoons honey (for glaze)
  • 1 tablespoon melted butter (for glaze)
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract (for glaze)
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt (for glaze)
  • Warm water (as needed)

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, yeast, and salt.
  2. In another bowl, combine warm water, honey, egg, and vanilla; stir in melted shortening.
  3. Use a stand mixer with a dough hook to combine wet and dry ingredients until sticky.
  4. Shape dough into a ball and let rise in an oiled bowl for 1 to 2 hours until doubled.
  5. Prepare the cinnamon sugar filling while the dough rises.
  6. Roll out risen dough into a rectangle, sprinkle with cinnamon sugar mixture, roll tightly.
  7. Cut into pieces and let rise again for about 45 minutes until puffy.
