  • 56g unsalted butter (melted)
  • 106g light brown sugar
  • 113ml buttermilk (room temperature)
  • 1 egg (room temperature)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Glaze: 125g confectioners' sugar
  • 2 tbsp milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F) and grease a doughnut pan.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, mix melted butter and brown sugar until smooth. Add buttermilk, egg, vanilla extract, and nutmeg; whisk until combined.
  4. Fold dry ingredients into wet ingredients gently until just mixed.
  5. Fill the doughnut pan two-thirds full with batter and bake for about 11 minutes.
  6. Let cool for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack. Prepare the glaze by whisking together confectioners' sugar, milk, vanilla extract, and salt until smooth. Dip cooled doughnuts in the glaze before serving.
