  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp kosher salt
  • 2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter (melted)
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened applesauce
  • 1 1/2 cups finely diced Honeycrisp or Gala apples
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/3 cup + 2 tbsp apple cider or juice

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and grease a nonstick baking sheet.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon.
  3. In another bowl, combine melted butter and sugar until smooth. Add egg, vanilla extract, and applesauce; mix well.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined. Gently fold in diced apples.
  5. Scoop tablespoon-sized portions onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them apart.
  6. Bake for approximately 10 minutes until golden brown.
  7. Prepare the glaze by whisking together powdered sugar and apple cider or juice.
  8. Brush some glaze over warm fritter bites and broil for 2–4 minutes to caramelize slightly.
  9. Let cool for about 15 minutes before serving.
