Ingredients
- Nonstick cooking spray
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp kosher salt
- 2 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter (melted)
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup unsweetened applesauce
- 1 1/2 cups finely diced Honeycrisp or Gala apples
- 2 cups powdered sugar
- 1/3 cup + 2 tbsp apple cider or juice
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and grease a nonstick baking sheet.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon.
- In a large bowl, mix melted butter and sugar until combined. Stir in the egg, vanilla extract, and applesauce until smooth.
- Combine dry ingredients into wet ingredients. Gently fold in diced apples.
- Scoop tablespoon-sized portions onto the prepared baking sheet.
- Bake for about 10 minutes; then broil for an additional 2–4 minutes until caramelized.
- Meanwhile, whisk together powdered sugar and apple cider to make the glaze.
- Brush glaze over warm fritter bites as soon as they come out of the oven.
